Who are we?

Why Young Minds Counselling CIC Was Founded

Young Minds Counselling CIC was incorporated on 28 August 2025 (company number 16678053) as a Community Interest Company (CIC), specialising in “other human health activities.”

As a CIC, it is intentionally structured to operate not for private profit but for community benefit — directing any surplus back into the organisation’s mission rather than distributing it to shareholders.

The founding of Young Minds Counselling CIC was driven by several core needs and aspirations:

The Need That Prompted Its Creation

A gap in accessible, youth-focused mental health support

Many young people experience anxiety, depression, identity struggles, trauma and relational challenges. Traditional services (NHS, schools, etc.) are often oversubscribed, under-resourced or slow to respond. We saw first-hand the impact when early intervention is missing.

To offer a safe, welcoming space for youth voices

Young people may feel judged, misunderstood or silenced. The intention behind Young Minds is to provide a space where their feelings matter, where they are seen and where their stories are validated.

To uphold professional, ethical and high-quality counselling standards

We wanted to give more than “help” — we want to give good help. That means ensuring that counsellors are trained, supervised and able to deliver evidence-informed, trauma-aware care.

To integrate community, relational and systemic support, not just individual therapy

Young Minds Counselling is not just about individual sessions. It’s a holistic mission: supporting families, liaising with schools or community groups, offering workshops and advocating for mental health awareness in your local area. The CIC model allows this wide scope.

To reinvest in the community rather than profit motive

Because Young Minds is a CIC, the commitment is structural: profits don’t go to private owners but are locked into the organisation’s work — enabling sustainability, capacity-building and ongoing service growth.
